James Hinchliffe

James started working for Tessella in 2003 following the completion of his PhD in mathematics, looking for a way to bring his maths background and interest in technology and algorithm development to bear on problems in the real world. Since then, James has worked on a huge variety of projects, from the near real-time monitoring of public-sector transport infrastructure to the statistical analysis of data from experiments on liquid laundry detergents, though more recently has developed more of a focus on the life sciences sector, including pharmaceuticals, forensic science and agribusiness. He has also inhabited nearly all the technical software roles - developer, test manager, technical lead, project manager and business analyst - and became a founder member of Tessella's dedicated consulting group a few years ago. In his senior consultant role, James has been advising clients on bigger and bigger projects and helping them to make ever more difficult and complex decisions about how to handle their data.
